Rob Edwards along with O'Neil are two of the early names in the frame to replace the former manager as head coach of Wolves.

The previous coach was sacked on Sunday after the team's 10-match winless beginning to the Premier League season.

Furthermore Edwards and O'Neil - both of who have previous associations to the club - are among the options to be evaluated by the Wolves leadership.

The manager is presently at Middlesbrough, which would pose a potential obstacle to his hiring at Wolves' stadium.

Nevertheless the ex- Luton manager - who played more than 100 of games for Wolves during his time as a player - is said to be a strong candidate for the position.

The mid-career manager is reportedly enjoys support from the club directors as they begin the search of hiring a fresh head coach.

O'Neil is also emerging as a surprise contender, although he would be a surprising choice considering he was sacked by Wolves in the previous winter.

The former West Ham player is out of work which means the club would not need to pay any compensation.
