A technical fault at Edinburgh's air traffic control meant no aircraft could enter or leave the facility.

Passenger services have recommenced at Edinburgh Airport following a substantial ATC system failure brought the international hub to a standstill.

Every arrival and departure were stopped because of an IT issue that arose around 08:30.

A number of travelers reported being stuck in jets at the stand as the outage continued.

Flights Resume with Continued Disruption

The airport confirmed at 10:40 that flights had resumed, and thanked passengers for their "understanding and cooperation".

However, considerable delays are expected to continue throughout the day. Flights to key destinations like Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London, and Bristol have been called off, with many others subject to postponements.

Officials had initially projected that dozens of flights could be disrupted.

"Flyers are asked to get in touch with their carrier for the most up-to-date details on their specific flights," the statement added.

Cause of the Chaos

Officials linked the operational halt to an technical fault with its control tower systems vendor.

Passengers continue to be advised to confirm the details of their flight before heading to the terminal as residual delays are cleared.
